Barry Laiche is an experienced attorney and candidate for District Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court, Division B, in Avoyelles Parish. He brings 33 years of extensive and diverse legal experience to his candidacy, guided by the philosophy that a great judge must possess character, genuine compassion, and real-life experience alongside legal knowledge. Over his career, he has handled thousands of civil litigation, insurance defense, personal injury, and municipal law cases in courtrooms throughout Louisiana.

Educational Foundation & Early Legal Career

Barry earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He then attended Southern University Law Center, where he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctorate in 1993. After passing all nine parts of the Louisiana Bar Examination on his first sitting, he began his legal practice in Lafayette under the mentorship of esteemed insurance defense attorney Raymond M. Allen. During his early years of practice, Barry handled civil litigation, local government cases, and served as an assistant city attorney for Lafayette.

Partnership in "Big Law" and Public Service

Barry eventually became an equity-owner partner and member of the Board of Directors at Provosty, Sadler, DeLaunay, Fiorenza and Sobel, the oldest business and insurance defense law firm in Central Louisiana. During his 23 years in "big law," his practice focused on insurance defense and plaintiff civil litigation across the state, alongside contract defense work for the State of Louisiana. His public service also includes representing local government as an assistant parish attorney and serving as a member of the Avoyelles Parish Port Commission.

Solo Practice & Community Advocacy

In 2016, seeking to work closer to home and represent everyday working people, Barry established his own law practice in Marksville. Operating with a support staff of four paralegals, he represents working people from all walks of life. His practice is built on a direct, personal commitment to being accessible and taking the time to understand and help those facing difficult times in his community. As a judicial candidate, he is running an independent, self-funded campaign, refusing financial contributions from lawyers, politicians, or special interests to ensure the absolute integrity and impartiality of the court.

Personal Life & Family Values

Barry is 60 years old and has been married to his wife, Michelle, for 34 years. Together, they are devout Catholics who raised their four children in Avoyelles Parish and are deeply involved in the lives of their seven grandchildren. Barry believes his experiences as a husband, parent, grandfather, and attorney provide the vital "life experience" needed to make fair, well-reasoned, and compassionate decisions that protect families and support public safety.
